Bad Toelz group on Facebook

For all who are interested, there is a Bad Toelz group now on Facebook. I've been enjoying catching up with old friends and former students.

Apparently I have an eBook...

If you look in Apple's iBookstore, you may see a new ebook version of my title I'll Let You Know When We Get There. (I self-published this book with Lulu, and they handled the logistics for the eBook.) I'm still feeling my way through all this, trying to figure out whether to do my other book there as well, and/or place one book or both with the Kindle or Nook stores. Any ideas? I welcome any comments or suggestions you may have about which places you prefer to shop for ebooks.

Coming soon to The Poet's Domain

A poem of mine will be included this fall in The Poet's Domain, published by Live Wire Press. I hope you check out a copy of the book.

Now on Facebook!

This is a new thing for me, but I'm having fun connecting with people from the past, in my various travels and networks: the American School in Germany; Williamsburg, Va., where I lived for ten years; University of Michigan, and more.

"The Originals" is back in print!

After two years of being out of print, "The Originals" is back in action, with a new subtitle: "A novel about the first Special Forces." I've made some changes in the text, and the book has a new cover, layout, and format. It hasn't gone through distribution channels yet, so for now it's available only through Lulu.com.

Reader's Comments: L.A.

It isn't my style to use excessive praise — however, this is the most interesting, best written — (w/illustrations) — "Travel," "Auto-bio," historical piece of work I have ever read!! Your personal "side observations," in excellent descriptive prose, make it "Art"! You can be honestly proud of this piece of work. It is a legacy!

Reader's Comments: F.B.

These comments come from F.B. in Sebastopol, CA:

Baker is emerging as a more interesting person as I read her book. She certainly had a diverse group of friends and acquaintances and seemed fearless in her travels. She tells a lot about her life without telling a lot - except indirectly - about herself. It is, as I have said several times, a pleasant read.

My respect for her grows the more I read. She brings a sense of history to her experiences and clearly laments the changes time has brought without being preachy or passing judgment. And I thoroughly enjoy her wry humor which subtly makes the points she forbears to hammer home. To respond to the title of her book - I think she has gotten there.
