I'll Let You Know When We Get There

In November 2007, I completed a long-time project: my book I'll Let You Know When We Get There. The work is hard to categorize; it's part travel, part history, part humor, part adventure, and more. It is a series of mini-essays, illustrated by professional photos, about a time when the world wasn't such a small place. Travel and communication, as well as the pace of life, were much slower, and a woman was less apt to travel the globe alone, especially for extended periods of time. It's exciting to share all this with you in our new world.

Here's the blurb:

Vignettes illustrated by professional photographs capture a special era after World War II when history changed gears and shifted into overdrive. Funny, poignant, absurd and sometimes prophetic, they highlight passing scenery and odd encounters along the way, such as a chance meeting with Hitler’s last general; life in the Park Hotel with the first Special Forces; a photo assignment in the Holy Land; visits with a Chinese foster daughter; a jungle walk in Cambodia before the Killing Fields massacres; the Soviet Union when Stalin and Lenin lay side by side in the Kremlin; and Elia Kazan directing a movie in the Bavarian Alps.
The book is available on Lulu.com, as well as from most bookstores and online booksellers. You can preview the table of contents and a chapter or two there on Lulu. I hope you enjoy reading it, and I welcome your comments.
